it seems that dance music is an everlasting quest for new and fresh hybrids. dimitri batsis aka dans mon salon, introduces a work which will be loved by music enthusiasts and djs alike on the upcoming amplify label. his attempt to renovate all rave feelings of the early 90s is obvious while keeping it fresh and contemporary.

>call me< is a welcome dose of precisely what we all need right now: a brilliant ray of sunny electro disco to warm up our winter dancefloors. dj nibc, the berlin-based, gothenburg-born dj, producer and trunkfunk records label owner has joined forces with fellow swedish house cat patrick l for a collaborative effort that offers a fresh, playful and breezy take on deep disco grooves. the dj nibc mix rides a languid summer afternoon tempo, accompanied by shimmering light beams and sweet synth chords, rising to a peak of uplifting strings and soulful vocals that weave around the tracks core retro melody. the patrick l mix gives the full polyphonic treatment, shifting the filtered strings to the intro, intensifying the bass, and using subtle punchy cut-ups in contrast with patricks crystal-clear vocal treatment. fellow swede tiger stripes completes the trio of countrymen, with a tiger stripes remix that moulds the track into an urgent dancefloor cut, emphasising an irresistible bass melody, a thudding kick drum, and classic house stabs of synths and voice. londons newest simmering hot creations signee funnels even more sunshine into his rework, as the crea albas lost soul remix splays out the the tracks high hats and fills all available spaces with arcs of retro synths and cosmic reverb.

the next ep on germany s hello? repeat imprint comes from seuil, one of paris s most inspired underground producers. in terms of style, it is a match that could hardly be more perfect. hello? repeat has spent the past six years carving a niche for itself with eps from cabanne, audio werner and label co-founder daze maxim, plus acclaimed albums by bruno pronsato and kate simko. seuil, meanwhile, has put out a steady stream of ultra-deep 12-inches on labels like freak n chic and sammy dees ultrastretch. both specialize in a sound that is modern, understated and hypnotic. late call is exactly what its name suggests: a record made for the deepest, most tender portion of the night. the drums are slick and punchy, but the rest is woozy and romantic–this is one to put on when the crowd has stopped chatting and everyone s dancing with their eyes closed. topping it off is a vocal line made famous by diana ross but recited here by an androgynous diva: if you need me, call me, no matter where you are, no matter how far… dark, trippy and weirdly moving, this is one of seuil s finest tracks yet. >slow motion< strikes a similar chord but with a more subtle approach. here you notice seuil s rare touch for subtlety: in the absence of any real >hook<, he keeps the track moving with expertly sculpted drums, a warm half-melody and a gently propulsive beat. soft chords sustain in the background to create a balmy summer night feel. both tracks show seuil and hello? repeat doing what they do best: delivering something deep, functional and full of character.

mark es >call me< finally gets released via merc this september. ever since its appearance on the mark e beats in space mix nearly a year ago it has remained a must have track and appeared in faiths top 10 tracks of 2010 without seeing the light of day. staying true to an original >house< aesthetic, call me merges a relentless bass line with soaring strings and an organ build de lacey would be proud of, combined with a spoken female vocal this is destined to be a future classic. dixon and tensnake appear for remix duties, dixon turns out a sublime re-work, tightening the feel in true innervisions fashion, whilst tensnake creates a genre defining remix that turns the track on its head and introduces 2 step garage attitude. mark e + dixon + tensnake = huge 12inch !

did you ever hear about christian strobe? no? hardly surprising, cause its a brand new solo-project by christian schnall, one half of disco trash music (maximal electro) and spruce (dreamy shoegaze). the german guy is musically rooted in the 80ies and early 90ies and as christian strobe, he combines airy new wave pop, retro-futurism with a pinch of house. the original mix of >midnight call< is full of magic, desire and an airy atmosphere, but still a simple pop song. the nightdrive version is recommended for nightly rides with your ferrari testarossa through big city lights. the italo-disco-pop-masters from codebreaker gives the original a funky french taste and reknowned keenhouse conjured a good-feeling remix with lovley summer-piano-chords. midnight call? you could name it sunshine call! in a more and more digital environment, the warmth of the analog vhs-tape version gives you the relaxing mood you need. the placid >lonesome astronaut< completed the debut-ep and takes you to a cosmic trip though time and space. stay tuned for the upcoming full-length album called >heartworks< in autumn 2011.
